HQ Hair Lounge follow a Responsible Colour Policy for the safety and peace of mind of our clients. We ask you to carry out a skin test prior to your colour service, to ensure you are not allergic to the key ingredients in hair colourants. You will need to have a skin test every 6 months.

Allergies can develop at any time and for no apparent reason, therefore we must carry out a skin test before a colour service. It is a very simple process which can be carried out in the salon, ideally 48 hours before the appointment.

Manufacturer’s instructions state “Hair colourants are not intended to be used on persons under the age of 16” therefore HQ Hair Lounge are unable to perform colour services on persons under the age of 16.

Reasons you would need a skin test

• If it’s your first-time having colour at HQ Hair.

• If your 6-month time period has expired.

• If you have coloured your hair at home.

• You have had a change in your medical history.

 

The way we conduct a skin test

The Allergy Alert Test must be done within 3 days and up to 48 hours before the colour is applied. This is because it can take up to 48 hours for an allergic reaction to develop. If you cut corners you risk missing a reaction. Come into the salon and ask our reception team for a skin test. This will be applied behind the ear and will be valid up to 6 months, unless you have had a tattoo, or coloured your hair elsewhere within that time frame.
